Lights On Lights Off

In the early 1960’s, Goodyear decided to experiment with illuminated tires. These tires were lit from the inside by incandescent glass bulbs, but they would never leave the show circuit and enter into widespread production. They looked odd in the daylight but glowed brightly in the evening. The rubber that was used proved to be too expensive, and over time the lights would become invisible due to the tires getting dirty.
